| NEWS!!! . . . Calvin White hopes to build at least one golf course in his Batterman Ranch resort community in Rock Island, Washington. The 3,656-acre community is expected to consist of 4,000 single-family houses and condos, two or more hotels, meeting space, a village center a spa, an equestrian center, and other attractions. White is also developing the Reflection Ridge golf community in Chelan, Washington. . . . Dave Edsall will design a "replica" course for a gated resort community in Lakehills, Texas. At build-out, Medina Lake Estates will include houses, a hotel, and a marina along Medina Lake. It's being developed by an LLC led by Dallas-based JMJ Holdings. . . . An 18-hole golf course will serve as a drawing card for the Seven Clans Casino in Redlake, Minnesota. The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, which broke ground on the casino in November, also plans to build a 40-suite hotel, meeting space, and other attractions. The tribe's CFO recently said that the tribe's gaming operation is having "a record year." . . . Eddie Leibold plans to build a golf course as part of a "rain catchment" community in Lakehills, Texas. The 500-acre community will consist of 85 single-family houses and 150 condos, and virtually every drop of rain that falls from the sky will be captured for use and recycled for reuse. . . . Black Mesa Golf Club in La Mesilla, New Mexico has hired Tom Doak to design its second golf course. Doak's "world-class," 7,400-yard course will complement the club's highly regarded, Baxter Spann-designed track, which opened in 2003. The complex is located on the Santa Clara Pueblo and will be part of a larger project that includes houses, a resort-style hotel, and meeting space. . . . Staten Island, New York's economic development corporation is looking for a private group to build a golf course in one of several locations, among them the Fresh Kills landfill. The island has three public courses, each of which sees 55,000 to 60,000 rounds a year. Donald Trump recently talked with the city of New York about building a course at the landfill. . . . An LLC led by Anthony Salce hopes to build a golf course at the planned Naples Reserve community in Naples, Florida. The course has been designed by Gordy Lewis. The 688-acre community is expected to consist of up to 1,154 single-family houses, a village center, and a variety of recreational amenities. . . . Justin Timberlake, the singer and actor, is adding nine holes to his Big Creek Golf Course in Millington, Tennessee. The facility's existing 18, which is currently being overhauled, is expected to reopen (as Mirimichi Lakes Golf Club) in the summer of 2009. Timberlake hired Mike Macelhose of Talent Golf Construction to design and build the new nine. . . . Edgewood Development Group aims to build a nine-hole golf course that will provide recreation for a seniors-only community in Bismarck, North Dakota. The 455-acre community will take shape on property adjacent to the city's Pebble Creek Golf Course. . . . Keissler Wong, the principal of Rock Solid Realty, plans to build a nine-hole golf course as part of a residential project in Howell, New Jersey. The community will consist of 96 single-family houses for seniors and 30 houses to be built by Habitat for Humanity. . . . Lyle Anderson has lost control of four golf properties that made him one of golf's most prominent developers: Las Campanas in New Mexico, Superstition Mountain in Arizona, Hokuli'a in Hawaii, and Loch Lomond in Scotland. Bank of Scotland, Anderson's lender, took over the properties and is said to be searching for buyers. . . . Reynolds Plantation, in Greensboro, Georgia, has hired Pete Dye to design its sixth golf course. Linger Longer Communities, the developer of the 14,000-acre resort community, is also reviving the fading golf courses and resort amenities on Jekyll Island in Georgia.
